The National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) is a not for profit, membership-based organisation with self-funding status. Its secretariat in Dublin supports a team of dedicated volunteers operating in eight regions.
NISO’s main drive is to promote the practice and knowledge of occupational health and safety. It provides health and safety advice; organises training courses and seminars as well as events including the Annual National Safety Conference All Ireland Safety Quiz and All Ireland Safety Awards. It also publishes a quarterly e-magazine, NISO Update.
Membership of NISO is open to all organisations and individuals with an interest in workplace health and safety: industrial and commercial firms, trade unions, voluntary bodies, service industries, agriculture and fishery enterprises, office-based organisations, distribution firms, contracting agencies, government departments and semi-state bodies, hospitals, educational establishments, safety representatives and those committed to this area of activity.
